Café Amsterdam & Centro Educativo Ñanta Sucre
Being a tourist you must have seen the shoe shine boys at the central plaza. These children are migrants from the countryside and do not have easy lives.
Most of the children come to ‘ Centro Educativo Ñanta’ a centre for alternative education. In this place , they receive medical assistance , education and there is a social worker who offers solutions for psychosocial problems and family conflicts . The children can buy their lunch for a symbolic 50 centavos so that they value their meal and don’t get used to receiving meals for free. ‘ Centro Educativo Ñanta’ organizes all sorts of cultural and sports activities as well so that the children can be children instead of only instead of only workers.

Centro Educativo Ñanta gets its funds from different foundations in other countries but there is a place in Sucre that supports Centro Educativo Ñanta in several ways. This place is Café Amsterdam. All profits of this café are meant to support Centro Educativo Ñanta in a financial way. Besides Café Amsterdam organizes special events to collect money for Centro Educativo Ñanta during some events , the children of Centro Educativo Ñanta help in the Café Amsterdam as we think it’s important that the children participate in this activities. For example, the children bake cakes which you can order in the café and during some events they help serving.
Café Amsterdam is a cosy café near the central plaza and we serve a wide variety of food and drinks. Every day we have happy our from 9 pm to 10 pm and every week there is live folkloric music.
